I saw it on a few different news stations and they all said that it was a 2016 Super Duty... But whatever it is, both sizes of pickup will be using basically the same technology so Ford needs to figure out what went wrong. Also, the 2015 Super Duty trucks don't have the body style of the one in the articles, it was a '16.

I'm assuming that it was diesel, and that means high exhaust gas temps. So my guess is that something, weather it be a wire, sound insulation, or some other crap, was to close to the exhaust and then caught

Why is Ford thinking of a new design for the Superduty? They just released the 2015 Super Duty and at this point I cant reallly tell the difference between the 14 and the 15 Superduty.

if you don't break it you aren't trying hard enough. Hopefully the engineers gained some valuable information from this.

No "perhaps" about it.

Prototype fires? They happen all the time. Seldom though are they so dramatic. This next-generation aluminum-bodied 2016 Ford Super Duty was out testing in the furnace-like heat of Death Valley in California when things went awry.

^exactly. If you see the "after" pictures, you can put all the burnt waste into a trash can because the aluminum melted away. If it was steel, there would be a whole frame and cab still there.
