2016 New Sport Mode
I'm surprised that there hasn't been any topics on this yet. Can someone please explain exactly how rev matching downshifts improve driving experience and improve performance? Google only yields info on manual transmissions.

The sport mode is on upper trim levels in 2015. Ford added it to all trim levels for 2016.
When you use sport mode it gives you a wow factor. I think it is great.

Revmatched downshifts will upset the truck's balance less when braking. Theoretically you would be able to slow down in a corner better but I find it hard to really see a value in this application.

I've sold $30,000 F-150 XL's with a sport mode.

Sweet lord does nobody read news lol? Sport mode is on every modern truck. This is a NEW VERSION of the sport mode. They are using the technology (software) from the Mustang transmission to incorporate rev matching. In a manual it eliminates the negative surge when you downshift, not sure how it works on automatic.
In this article they say that Ford claims it to make the truck faster: http://www.torquenews.com/106/how-20...tting-sportier

it'll keep you in the power band during deceleration (saves on gas assuming it works like manual where the injectors are off when you are off the gas) and give you quicker throttle response when you get back on it.
