2016 F150 5.0L Code P2006 "Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Closed Bank 1"
Hello all... I'm a member of the forum, but new to the 2015 - Present F150 threads having just purchased a new 2016 F150 SCREW 5.0L 4WD Lariat 4-weeks ago. I want share an experience that might provide valuable info for other members. Last Wednesday, my check engine light (CEL) illuminated with only 1,400 miles on my new truck. The truck was still running, but seemed to be a little sluggish, so I called the dealer and scheduled warranty service the next day. Upon inspection, the tech reported a code of P2006, Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Closed Bank 1 (Definition: "The P2006 code means that the intake manifold runner control circuit has detected a stuck closed intake runner flap for bank 1. The ECU tries to control the the intake manifold runner flap position, when the malfunction is detected a Check Engine Light is set."). The service advisor ordered a replacement sensor from Ford (they had none in stock at the dealer) believing the original sensor might be defective. Lucky for us there were no sensors in stock at the dealer. Ford Engineering (corporate) called the service advisor first thing the next morning to say the code is real and there is a group of 2016 F150 5.0L VIN numbers that made it through assembly with defective intake manifold assemblies. Engineering said instead of replacing the sensor, an entirely new intake manifold assembly must be installed. The combination of my VIN and the sensor order triggered the alert in engineering's system and prompted the call to my advisor.
The new intake manifold was shipped by Ford and installed under warranty (about a 3-day turnaround). The truck is running great... probably better than new! My service advisor said they new nothing about this defect nor is there any recall on these VINs... just the flag in engineering's system. The advisor and I are very thankful that engineering flagged my problem since this could have been frustrating for all of us... maybe for a long time. Hopefully, this information is helpful to anyone who might experience the same problem.

Nice to see Ford had a system in place to catch the problem. Well done Ford.

Should I extend the warranty?
My 2016 has 29000 miles and the same code just went on 2 days before Labor Day weekend. This is the second warranty item on this truck. At 20k both front wheel bearings needed to be replaced, now I need a new intake manifold which they didn't have available. So I drove a truck, engine light on, 6 hours north with a boat in tow. Just makes you feel good inside.
What else should I expect to happen to this truck? Should I extend the warranty?
