Default 2016 or blow out deal on 2014 new old stock?

Has anyone been in the same shoes, and what's your advice here:

Should I make the move from my 2013 3.5TT SCREW 4x4 to a comparable 2016 even though
1. I'm not that thrilled with new model's appearance
2. some new models have had issues

Or should I do a 2014 new old stock (you know brand new still from previous model years) for a super deal?

I've been reading, I know most everyone says new model drives better than the previous one, and I agree, but the one I tested had that awful steering knock problem.

Thanks!

Maybe I am missing something, but what would be the point in trading up from a '13 to a '14?

Well basically I like the previous model, a lot. My 2013 is on a lease, I'd be turning it in. Could buy or lease the '14. With a 2014 the point would be getting a brand new truck (with new warranty) to last until the new model either gets a facelift (could be a long while though until they make their money back on the aluminum manufacturing investment) or something else I really like comes along.

2016 could be fine, but I'm not enamored with them yet. Maybe it'll grow on me and I could get one without the random probs some folks have had.

Better be a very good deal on the 14'. Its about to be a two year old truck. If you sell it next year it will be three years old to anyone buying it. Just something to think about.

This is a very good point. I know the OP is planning on leasing so this could work to his advantage or it could be a huge mistake. It depends on the residual value at the end of the lease and how low they are willing to go. I would also be concerned about buying a brand new truck that has basically been sitting on a lot for the past year.

I can tell you this...

On my brand new 15, I got $13,600 off MSRP.

So to buy a 14, I'd need to see about an 18k discount off sticker.

In Houston, tv ads show anywhere from 13k to 15k at dealers for the troubled 15's.

Read the threDs where the new aluminum trucks tow poorly and many disappointments....
