So I went back to the dealer today, sat down and worked out some numbers on the truck in the picture. I liked the numbers and said ok sold let's do it. They told me I could buy it but couldn't take delivery until another comes in which they don't know when is! Talk about a buzz killer! Has anyone ever heard of this?

Platinum R.R.
Are you trying to purchase this truck from a Museum?
Does this dealership want to sell Trucks or just display them.
It seems odd to me.
Sounds like they are caring a Ham on their back & don't need the sale.
Good Luck?

It is a dealer in a small wealthy town that sells to the wealthy . They sell a massive amount of cars, maybe that's why they got a 2015 before others.
There is a different feel to the aluminum, it is sort of a cheap feel at first. It drove nice, felt a bit peppier with the 3.5 Eco vs my 2011. The LED headlights were cool except for the fog lights are not LED. The big sunroof is nice, makes the cab look even roomier. It has an electric fabric shade.
Remote tailgate release was cool, so was the fob and the start stop button. Has a HUGE center console. Interior lights are LED. Turbo Boost gauge was cool. Tons of buttons and lights, 360 Camera takes a bit to get used to and the video quality wasn't that great.
Didn't like- The key pad on the pillar, they should have made it invisible like on the Lincolns. Atleast on a higher trim level, Chrome Door handles make it look like a previous generation XLT. There was so much on this truck, I am sure I missed 90% of the cool gadgets. I was so excited, only to be shot down lol.
But now I can shop for a better deal and get a Platinum like I originally wanted.

They can sell it to Tools or the next guy....they don't care. They'll sell them all before they get more in anyway. This thread reminded me of a conversation with my dealer a few months ago. During the talk he said "yours is the one we're supposed to put in the showroom when it comes in".
Great.

That truck is so nice i would have done that deal and let them keep it. You probably wont find another like that for a few months, I could be wrong but that thing is just gosh darn beautiful! I would loose a lot of money on trying to attain that! I never thought i would like a KR as much as other models but I like that exact truck more than any i have looked at in pictures.

My BIL is retired from the "car hauler" truck driver business. He hauled Ford products out of Louisville,KY plants & sometimes the others with enroute load add-ons.
That Teamster's Union paycheck he drew was around $85,000 yearly a few years back and he's been retired a bit as now in late 60's. FWIW, he had a better gig before Ford got out of the big trucks as he hauled them piggyback style as you still see with other brands of hvy. trucks. He drove out with several, assembled the parts left off at factory, then flew home with his tool bag. That got him home quicker and in comfort-the "flier miles" put him in first class for his tall bod!
I'm might just be the last person on earth to defend what dealers do but as I'm one of those folks that is wanting to see AND! drive the 2015, I get it that they need a showroom truck. Realistically, I see any dealer wanting a "showtruck" for what is a totally new line of vehicles and in light of the aluminum thing, it all adds up to lots of interest.
You (and me) are but a fish in the pond, so lets face it , they do have a store to pay for and employees that need the job. And loads of money to make.
It came real hard for me but I've learned that : Patience ='s better deals!
LED HL's- I watched the guy on youtube talking up his new LED HL's. They are cool, no doubt! Has Ford offered xenon's in the past trucks? My personal experience with led's is they don't last the gadzillion hours you read about. I have them on MC's as "be seen lights" in fron & rear and have replaced several of those. I also tried an expensive LED strip to light a step-down into my LR and after the second set they are a waste of money that way. We all know the HL's are a better level of LED but other than energy saved I'm uncertain why Ford didn't use zenon's? I would have like to hear more from that engineer as to all the background on the LED choice.
