2015 XL 3.5L Thump on take off
well here is my first question. I have a XL 4wd sport package with the 3.5L along with the 373 electronic rear locker. I picked up the truck yesterday and noticed at a few of my take offs from a stop sign it thumped at the rear diff. My question is does anyone else notice this? It feels like yoke slap or the diff is not meshed correct then the gears hit and things are Ok.
I also found sport mode this morning and like the shift points a lot better.
Yes I searched but was not sure of what terms to use to narrow it down.
Thanks
Mike

I have this same issue with my 5.0 Screw. I'm not certain it is coming from the rear diff but it is definitely coming from the rear driveline.
I only have this issue during initial acceleration after a very slow rolling stop. If I stop completely there is no clunk at all. It almost feels like it is "kicking" into first gear.
I assumed it was the transmission and that it was normal...2015 XLT 5.0 Screw - 4000K has done it from new.

Hum I will have to pay a little more attention to it. I did notice it from a full stop yesterday (not a California stop).
Thanks

I don't necessarily get the thump on take off, but if I'm driving and let off the gas, then get on it again, I get a driveline thump, sounds kind of like someone whacking a tennis ball if I had to describe it. Seems like a fair amount of driveline slop.

It's probably fine and just suspension and drive train loading. I get it too from time to time, depending on what I'm doing and how the truck is when I move it. If you're worried about it, you can either take it in and ask them to have a look, or crawl under with a crescent wrench and give all the bolts a check.

I know it is covered so no worries here, I was really just trying to figure out if this was a normal thing or not. Before I bothered my dealer and had them say it is normal.
Sounds like it is pretty common right now.
Thanks
