Default 2015 Supercrew 5.5' wGooseneck hitch

Currently have a 2011 SCab 6.5' bed 3.5EB with a B&W gooseneck hitch. Works great but want an SCrew. Considering ordering a 2015 SCrew 5.5' 3.5EB. I'd put another flipover ball in it. I pull a 20' lowboy car hauler with compact tractor or hay between farms. In the towing capabilities section on the Ford site, I saw this statement:

Vehicles equipped with 5.5' box will accept a fifth-wheel hitch, but current fifth-wheel trailer designs are not compatible with these models (145" wheelbase SuperCrew)

Is there anything with the 2015 model 5.5' bed that would keep me from using my gooseneck? I realize it's not a 5th wheel but don't know what the limiter is on using this setup. Also, will the factory foldable hard tonneau flip forward far enough to use a gooseneck?

Thanks for you thoughts!

I know this doesn't answer your question, but why not just get a 6.5' bed?

My off farm job has a very tight parking lot. Every inch helps.

I would think they are talking about fifth wheel campers not working with the 5.5 foot bed. You should be fine with a gooseneck.

It will work on a 2012 F-150 Screw with 5.5 foot bed truck. The ball has to be located 6 inches ahead of the rear axle. I had a B&W turnover ball in a 2012. I would "assume" it should work in the new body style. I really did like the turn over ball because you could use all of your bed space when not towing. Hope this helps.

That is good to hear. I really like the flipover ball too. B&W doesn't list the 2015 F150 gooseneck hitch part numbers on their site yet but I did send them an email. I'll post their response for others when I see it.

I found a pic of my trailer (18'+2' dovetail) since there are so many different types out there. I don't see any way I could hit the cab going around a corner even at 90 degrees with a 5.5' bed.

B&W response:

Good morning Eric!

Thank you for your inquiry. At this time, we do not have an application for the 2015 F150’s. For general information, the Turnoverball can be installed on the 5.5 bed, you will want to keep in mind that you are losing 12 inches of bed space you previously had. You will definitely want to do some measuring to see if your trailer will still have adequate turning clearance. If you have any other questions, please let me know!

You will have no problems pulling your goosneck with a supercrew. Been doing it for the last 3 plus years.

Thanks Mark. Considering the extended range fuel tank on my 2015 order. 33g vs 23g I believe. Do you happen to have the large tank? Want to make sure I'm not creating any problems for the gooseneck frame under the bed.
