Default 2015 Mirror cap removal

Hey guys, I bought a set of colour matched mirror caps for my F150. Just wondering how to remove the factory ones? Do I have to take the glass out of the mirror or just pull them off? Thanks

I just pried mine off. I did break the innermost tab, but I think the original chrome would still work for someone. Anybody need some chrome caps? :-)

If you want to keep the old caps, I would recommend removing the mirror glass, then the four T-15 torx screws. This will split the clam shell of the mirror, then you can easily remove the chrome mirror cap. I did this so I could paint mine. I could not pry them off from the outside.

Anyone do this with tow mirrors? Would like to swap stock chrome with either the unfinished black or PTM.

I wouldn't think they would be terribly different from the standard F150 mirrors.
