2015 Lariat doesn't always show "4x4 Shift In Progress" Message?
Hi all,
I did a search but came up empty ...
When switching between 2H, 4A, and 4H, the display in the instrument cluster doesn't always show the message, "4x4 Shift in Progress" ... is this normal?
I noticed that sometimes it'll show, sometimes it won't. On my 2011, it always showed the message. I read in the owners manual that it "may" show the message, but wanted some other peoples' experience.
Thanks,
-John

Driving in the ice and snow Wednesday night, I shifted between 2H, 4A and 4H a few times, and I could feel the difference between 2H and 4A, but not between 4A and 4H.
Anyone have a definitive answer to this question?

Ahh, good to know. I was looking at the "Power Distribution" screen, or whatever it's called.
By the way, has anyone noticed that in 4A, it uncouples the front wheels when you go around a turn?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking... smart system.
I found an abandoned parking lot near my house for the ice and snow we had wednesday night (roughly 1" total) and played with the 4x4 on the new truck. Pretty smart system, made it difficult to slide out of control.

Here's my uneducated guess....
As I understand it, the front hubs need vacuum to engage. If you have a boosted engine, it may not always have enough vacuum to perform the engagement if you're on the throttle, so you would see the message. If at closed throttle where the vacuum is greater, it may engage immediately, hence no message.

The gears have to align and if done by perfect alignment it is done before warning lag time. If gears have to free wheel until aligned warning light informs you the shift is not complete. Just a educated guess and mine has shifted with and w/o warning.
