What is worse, is the cat usually covered it up. So unless you modified the exhaust you usually didn't see any evidence of the problem.

In the Mazda situation your logic makes sense. To be honest I'm going to take the up front approach on my next oil change the dealers service manager and get his viewpoint. My thoughts are this: you have an engine design that will require substantial backend (after warranty) investment which hurts Fords reputation that can easily be averted. I the owner am taking the steps to protect my longer term investment at my own expense and time. I am not just dumping the residue on the road and disposing of it properly. Lastly I am averting the possible liability and expenses associated with the vapor lock situation as well. To me this Catch Can situation, if stalled properly, is best ignored by the dealer. This is not a "Street Mod", it's a responsible improvement and I'll look around for a dealer who agrees.
No, I am just saying it looks fishy. I owned a Mazdaspeed6... they had lots of issues with the seals in the turbos causing smoke. They'd void warranties for just about any reason to not have to eat the cost of the repair. I wouldn't put it passed a dealer to try and get out of it if they thought they could. Not saying that are all (or even mostly) like that however. What is worse, is the cat usually covered it up. So unless you modified the exhaust you usually didn't see any evidence of the problem.

I think if you are up front with them it is easier. I intend to discuss it with my service folks as well. I'd rather be pro-active as well.
The Mazda situation was annoying because the problem existed without the mods. You just couldn't see it. They didn't want to fix on their dime.

REALLY? I've never heard of any Ford dealer voiding a warranty for a catch can, that's illegal. What's the name of the dealership? I'll call and speak with them and by the time I'm through, I bet I sign them up as a reseller. An aftermarket accessory has to cause a catastrophic failure in order to void a warranty. That SM is obviously uninformed.
Seriously, what's the name of the dealership?

Before installing our kit most will drop the CAC, drain and clean it. After that the kit catches the water, oil, unburned fuel, sulfuric acid and the rest of the junk. You just drain and dispose.

What's up 6 PACK, I'm Tommy with RX Speed Works and we make a kit designed specifically for the F150 line. Our biggest seller is the kit we make for the EcoBoost. It solves a major concern with moisture accumulating in the CAC (intercooler). Due to gravity and the placement of the CAC when the truck goes into boost it can push the water into the combustion chamber. This results in a temporary "shudder" or stumble and in worst case scenarios the truck goes into Limp Mode and shuts down.

What research has been done with the 2.7L to see if Ford has addressed any of the issues?
