2015 F150 noise when down shifting. possible transmission issue?
Has anyone have an issue when down shifting from 5th to 3rd gear? Here is a video of the sound I am experiencing, you can't miss it. It seems to happen when the transmission is fully warmed up around 195 to 200 degrees F, going around 40MPH. The truck has about 9,700 miles on it. I'm not sure if it matters but I have an XLT 5.0L, crew cab, 6.5' bed with 3.73 gears, bone stock.
I had a 1997 F150 with over 280K miles on it before this truck that never had any transmission issues. So this is a sad thing for me to experience with a Ford.

What makes things worse is that the local dealer says they are 1.5 weeks out in back log and it's going to take a couple days to repair which warranty doesn't cover a rental or any period of time. It sucks that I bought a new truck that has a legitimate issue from the factory, and Ford won't cover the cost of a rental. Now I need to figure out how I am supposed to get to work and back without a vehicle.

Ryguy,
From your video I could not make out the actual sound that you were experiencing. I have a 3.5 ecoboost and my truck makes a grinding noise on slight inclines when it is in 4th gear. It feels like the truck needs to down shift but instead it just holds the gear till the very last second then drops and grinds the the whole time. Is this anything like you are experiencing?

I'm experiencing the same thing on my '15 4wd 5.0 XLT with 3.31 gears. I'm in the process of isolating exactly when it happens but I've noticed it three or four times in the 6 days I've owned the truck. It always seems to occur when downshifting on a slight incline.

I have turned off the 6th gear with the transmission gear selector buttom so that I could replicate the issue. The sound is at time marker 0:12 and 0:18. It only does it around 40MPH. Man I'm starting to regret buying this thing.

Shoot me a PM with your full name, best contact number, VIN, and dealership information; I'll see how I can help keep the noise down.

Same noise f150
My truck is just over 10,000 miles and just the past week I noticed the same sound, found this site looking to see if any ideas what is it or a fix. Has anyone found a fix or the problem?

I recommend taking your rigs to the dealership for a look. Shoot me a PM with your full name, best contact number, VIN, most current mileage, and dealership information; I'll enlist the aid of your regional customer service manager for that noise.
