Re: 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2 L engine.

Is this what all the fuss is about? A 5,672# truck that gets 14 MPG? With Premium gas recommended?

Seriously?

Ford must be quaking in their boots over this truck. LOL,LOL,LOL.

Read all about it here, if you care. A 5,672# 1/2 ton truck? How old-timey is that, LOL? Better buy one while you can.

The Chevy kept his pedal to the metal all the way up the hill. The trans couldn't keep the motor in its torque band and slowed to 45 mph often and shifted to speed back up. Meanwhile when they did the F150 they also kept the pedal to the metal and the truck did 75 mph. They could have had it in cruise and the truck would have stayed at 65 all the way up. It easily beat the Chevy by over a minute. Chevy squatted 2 1/2" at the rear wheel well while the F150 did 1" with the same 850 lb. weight on the hitch. The test was clearly a Bow Tie leaning effort. Squeal out it did.

It's honestly hard to take GM seriously at the moment, their 2014 Silverado/Sierra was a complete and total DUD. It doesn't help matters that there have already been 3 recalls right out of the gate. Overall sales are down at this point in the year by 1% compared to 2013 and it's a brand new model to boot. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ram overtake Silverado as #2 in 1/2 ton sales after the 2015 F150 is released.

Hello I'm new to this form but was looking into engine specs and saw this thread. I hope you don't mind me asking a questions here but I have just test drove a new Chevy only because I have a lease on my Echoboost that's about up and I'm not getting any better than the 14MPG you mentioned here is anyone else experiencing this also. I am glad I leased because this is not what I was told by Ford when I purchased it.

looking at the link 0-60 in 5.4 seconds crew cab in 4 wheel drive is actually very fast.
This sucks my Ecoboost is around 15 MPG. I can tell you truck would do around 7.0 0-60 on its best day our 6.2l F150 requires premium actually recommends premium.

I wouldn't worry about that, honestly. As an anecdote: my WRX has 150k Miles (240k kM) and the turbo shows no shaft play or any other indication it's not 100% healthy. It's not that they don't fail, it's just super uncommon on cars that aren't tuned, and even on tuned rigs it's not usually the turbo that fails.
