2015 F150 Engine Specs
Some crazy numbers going around about the output on the new 2.7tt, the 5.0, and 3.5tt, some as high as 440hp on the 3.5tt. Anyone hearing anything solid on these engines yet?

All the numbers you're hearing about are speculation. Ford hasn't released HP/TQ or MPG information for the 2015 yet. It will be a while before those are available.

Yeah, a lot of crazy numbers thrown about. I personally think Ford won't change the existing engine numbers too much. GM has their 6.2L now that markets 460 ft-lbs, Dodge has their 6.4L hemi that markets 430 ft-lbs. I would guess Ford will split the difference and up the boost to be at 440ish in torque. That would pin the HP at around 385.
The problem Ford will have is the Chevy 6.2L mpg is 15 & 21 mpg (city/highway 2wd). The existing 3.5L is 16 & 22 mpg (city/highway 2wd). If they push all the way to best Chevy in the torque department they will probably end up matching chevy in mpg. The weight loss will definitely help and maybe lets them match Chevy's torque and still claim best mpg.
I say there is no way you'll see 440hp on the 3.5L. From a marketing standpoint, they won't want to change Dennis Leary's script (most capable, best mileage, blah blah blah).

I love my Eco, but I can't believe ford is not offering the 6.2 with the new trucks. The biggest (displacement) engine we have is the 5.0. I understand the direction ford is going, but taking your biggest engine and adding another small engine in a full size pickup is confusing to me.

Ford discontinuing the 6.2 makes a ton of sense. With the truck being 700lbs lighter, the 5.0 will be just as fast. The 6.2 uses too much fuel, and contradicts Ford's initiative for better gas mileage across the board.

Like I was saying hardcore, I understand the direction they are going, but I still think it should be an option. Just my opinion. I was planning on getting one when I get a new truck. Guess ill have to buy a used '14 when the time comes. Lol

Seeing rumors of the 3.2 I5 diesel as a possibility but those run ~350lb-ft and ~200hp from what I've read.

and i quote "The truck standard has to rise from 23.5 mpg to 28.8".
now do you understand? ford can't offer a large v8 that gets horrible mpg if they plan on meeting the requirements.
