2015 F-150: New Transfer Case Needed at 800 miles
#242
Drive from Spokane to Seattle for factory ordered 2016.
Arrived at 4:00 when traffic was abysmal. Took short test drive and thought all was well but the HVAC blower motor was a bit noisy (turned out it wasn't the HVAC blower . . . sigh . . anger . . . frustration). But since my last truck took 800 miles to develop the many problems, I figured if it at least didn't rattle and squeak I'd be good.
Filled out all paperwork and signed over title on my old truck.
Spent 90 minutes waxing truck at dealer which gave time for traffic to die down.
Left for dinner and hotel totally psyched.
Hit 35 mph and heard a loud sound similar to my transfer case issue but with more variation to it. It sounded like the old sound but with more of a rattle like something was loose and vibrating around. Very prominent noises. I asked to drive another 5.0 2016. It was as quiet as a tomb. Clearly my new 2016 had at least as serious an issue as my 2015 but there is no way in hell I would chance it on a truck that is like that with only 19 miles on the odometer. So I left in my old truck! But they were good about it at least. They have a 72 hour buyback period.
If anyone calls BS I won't blame you.
I am also going to send a letter to some sort of regional Ford person. Dealer in Seattle has been great as well as one in Spokane. Not sure what the Hell ford has going on but I won't buy another F-150.
Proud of myself for not driving off in a truck that had something going on with only 19 miles on the odometer. Driving 300 miles one way and waxing a new truck at the dealer hopefully demonstrates I am not a flake. But again if anyone doubts me I get it.
No clue where to go from here; apart from a 300 mile drive home after meeting dad for lunch. F150 has the keypad entry, has a bench seat, suicide doors, great 5.0 V8. Can't get that combo anywhere else.

So. I got a call yesterday saying the part (planetary and ring gear) magically showed up at the dealer and my truck should be ready today. We shal see. I'll try to get a pic of the old part, tho I have a feeling " it won't be available". I'll post when I get it back and let y'all know how it goes. Also, ford motor company said they would probably make my first payment, but when I asked about how I get the extended warranty applied to my truck (which they offered me the first week) they said they prolly won't be able to do both. Which sent me into a rage. They offered the warranty cause this thing is a pos the first week, and they making the payment cause they had it all month two separate issues. I swear I'm gonna stick this truck up someone's *** before this is all done.

I can open the front and rear doors and get a much larger item inside the extended cab. Not only that but it is much easier to grab a backpack from behind the driver's door when I open the suicide door behind me. I do prefer the look of the suicide doors but the Tundra has the second best approach. GM and Chrysler have too much of a four door sedan look to them.
