2015 F-150 Insurance Cost
Okay the last four digits of my VIN is 1981 on my 2015 F-150. Truck was built on Oct. 27. I took the VIN to my insurance company and compared price to very, very similar 2014 F-150. I am now paying $708.00/year for full coverage. The 2015 F-150 looks like will cost me $1,040.00/year for same coverage. I ask them to call main office to verify. They are going to review, but it appears I will be paying about 50% more per year.

I have State Farm. I hope it's not 50% more, but wouldn't be surprised.

What is your coverage limits?
I just ran mine with USAA and show $790/year on a King Ranch ($500 deduct, towing, $1M bodily, $500k property, $1M property protection, $1M underinsured/uninsured bodily injury).
We also have two other cars on policy (multi-car discount).

BTW, I just ran the same analysis on a 2014 similarly configured with the same coverage and it is $120 less per year than the 2015 coverage above.
This may be due to the potential increase cost of repair of the aluminum. Just guessing.

Comparing rates is often meaningless unless the rates are compared on vehicles in the same state/region/locale/city/county etc.
On another forum, I'm often amused when drivers from, e.g. Boston, are complaining of high ins rates often 2X-3X the rates I pay in rural western Oregon on identical vehicles. There are, of course, many other variables that makes rate comparison futile.

I think what we're seeing is some of the companies are using '14 numbers when quoting on '15s because they don't have the specs, numbers, whatever, on the new ones yet. I think the OP got fairly accurate numbers when he saw the dramatic increase(because of the pop can body's. This number will go down as more body shops get used to working on coke can doors, etc.

To give another data point... I did a quote request on Geico to replace my '08 Infiniti G35 with a '14 and '15 F-150 4x4 Screw... (just using model and not specific VINs)
The '14 lowered my premium by $4.xx and the '15 raised it by $6.xx
This is in the Texas area, so roughly the same price of coverage. Now maybe they don't have their system updated with rates for the '15 since they're not on the market yet, or maybe the pricing will be similar, only time will tell.
