After test driving the 3.5 & 2.7 EB's at the drive event, I would stick with the 5.0. My 13 RCSB 5.0 is quicker, and has a better feel to me than either of the 15 Screws I drove. Add 25 HP more in the 15, and less things to go wrong than the EB, it's a no brainer. I didn't order one yet, Ford is too slow rolling out the 15's. I will rethink this when the 16's are out. I'd really like to get the new 10 speed too.

We have had a 2.0 ecoboost escape and a 2.0 fusion (Direct injection engines) for 2.5 and 1 year. (I hate my escape's stuttering, power dropping to 0). Kim mentioned her fusion did this the other day. Like dead pedal.

My escape at 17k started to have the drop out... no power crap and then started researching and found the problems. Honestly thought about the 3.5 eco for the F150 to "Stay up to date".

Told her to dump it and order a mustang GT V8. She test drove the GT and looked at me and said uh huh, I want this.

After driving the escape 35k, and she driving the fusion 5k vehicles we both did not trust the engine after real world use.

Both the F150 and the mustang GT have 5.0 motors.

I had a 2013 FX4 Eco and it was really nice, but the lag (kept it stock) bothered me. I wanted the V8 for the power, sound, and to put a supercharger on it. I am mostly a highway driver but when I did tow the Eco did great. I expect the same or better when I tow with the 2015 5.0

Having driven most of the engine combos I'm still kind of up in the air on what to get. I will soon hopefully get to drive a platinum 5.0 with the 3.73 in it to finally have driven all the engine/gear combos. I will say that the eco's do get up and go. That 2.7 is really surprising, but can't get that with the platinum. Having just driven a King Ranch with the 5.0 with 3.55 it looks like I'll be keeping the 5.0 3.73 combo. That King Ranch I drove felt better than my current ride and the 3.73 will be even better. I do like the eco torque, but it appears even the new ones have MPG all over the place and the jury is still out on how the eco will do in the long run. I would be nice to drive a 5.0 with the 3.73 and an eco with the 3.55 back to back to get a good feel, but finding a 5.0 with the 3.73 in a platinum is a hard find.

I liked both engines (3.5 Eco and 5.0), but loved the 5.0 on my test drives. There's no doubt the Eco has more punch off the line, but with my driving style it felt a little jerky. I love the smoothness and linear power of the 5.0. It coasts along when I want, and wakes up and scoots when I ask it to. Dont' regret my decision for a second.

Probably the single biggest reason I went 5.0 over 3.5 Eco was not the turbo, but the direct injection. I will be keeping this truck for a long time, and the carbon build up and lack of consistent valve cleaning on the direct injection motors (not just Ford, but all) steered me away from them.

5.0 because my previous two were EB. I missed the growl from the engine. I was also concerned about longevity. My 11 and 14 made some weird noises at times. In my short time with 5.0 I am pleased. Glad I made the switch.

i couldn't have said it better myself!!!

Dealer tried selling me the EcoBoost for the same price as the 5.0 cuz they had 3 on their lot.

5.0 is the way to go

Even toyota has a v8 in their tundra.
Driven many ecoboosts....nah....the v8 is just better to drive.
I also read way to many horrible mpg threads by the ecoboost gang. My 5.0 gets better mpg than i expected it to.
Just 1 more reason i love the v8 and it sounds awesome when my right foot hits the floor.
Cannot help but notice that ford felt no need to pump ecoboost sounds through the stereo of my v8.

I talked to several that had EB - they loved truck but not happy with EB - mileage not what Ford claimed - I went with 5.0 (had 5.4) - happy with all - getting 16+ mpg

The turbo lag is my fist complaint. The sound and fuel economy has been great, I'm happy with the 5.0.
