2015 5.0 question

Great news. On a related topic, I have never seen a company basically ignore an engine improvement like the 2015 5.0 I haven't seen any hype or marketing of it. All the drive event trucks seem to be turbo 6's. I understand the government CAFE pressure, but this seems interesting to me.
When I was shopping for my 2013 there was no question I'd be going 5.0 again (plus 5 has always been my lucky number...coincidence?? lol). Just fell in love with the engine.
Ford marketing is pushing the turbo twins hard because of fuel economy and performance. Makes the 5.0 a bit of a silent hero which I really love.
The EB's are awesome engines there's no question in my mind about that. But I've always liked taking the road less traveled so to speak. I didn't need the extra towing, fuel economy was a wash and there are way more boosted F-150's out there. I think that you will see a big drop in 5.0's on the road especially once that new 2.7TT hits the lots. It will make our V8 trucks rarer and rarer which I have no issue with .

When I bought my 2011 I thought about the 3.5TT but ended up in a 5.0.

I'm really hoping the 16s-17s have the 8 speed tranny and the 5.0 is still offered. I'm waiting to upgrade then.

Ever since the V6 Ranger days (1990), I've owned two F150 5.4 V8s and looking to purchase a 5.0 soon. But, if Ford goes GDI with that engine, count me out. Yeah, yeah, I'm admittedly old-school, but I'm not convinced that the silence from manufacturers about the intake valve coking issue means that the issue has been solved. Also, when comparing the oil I drain out of my GDI engine (very black with a fuel odor) with the oil drained from my 3.0 Fusion at the same OCIs, I am more comfortable with the latter. I'll leave my thoughts on turbos to another day except to say that experiencing a turbo blow out when 3,000 miles out to sea leaves a memorable trauma forever.

I'm all for technology and gadgets, and it's really amazing when you take a look at something like the 5.0 and its displacement, and compare it to the monster engines the big 3 put out mid 60s-70s. For a 302 it's putting out serious horsepower and torque that would have been the envy of any manufacturer in, say, the late 80s even. That said, I might take a look at these (relatively) tiny engines and what the engineers can do to bring out more power and torque, yet with less energy consumption. Really amazing stuff. But I want to wait a couple three more years before going that route (as I think it'll happen anyway given the efficiency of the smaller, fewer-cylinder engines). For me, growing up in the 80s, I love the V8 sound. To me, you just can't beat that.
I'll always have a place in my heart for the V8, and I realize that this now makes me an old feller. Or at least one for who the idea of a 4-cylinder was limited to Japanese imports and sad American attempts at them. The kid everyone envied in high school was the one who had the Mopar show car that his old man probably made for him. You wanted the big, badass drag car. Things have changed but not my love for the V8!
