as of right now im just shy of 1100 miles averaging 19 mpg on this tank. i drive about 15.5 miles to work about half the month and 13 to the gym (so 31 round trip for work and 26 round trip to gym) a few inclined hills here and there. also its the winter months right now and my garage isnt heated so every morning i let it warm up at minimum 10 min. even after getting off work ill let it warm up. so the 19 mpg also takes into account the truck sitting there and idling for 10 plus minutes to warm up some.

going to work i hit 2 stop signs, and drive through 1 small town. otherwise its 55 the rest of the way. the gym is pretty much the same except ill hit a few more stop lights for the 2 miles im driving in town. this is about 80% of my driving, even going into town im hitting the same streches of highway. ill try to be as detailed as i can, i hope others would do the same, so we get an idea of what this puppy can really do.

so far im pretty impressed. i had a 09 5.4 that averanged less than what im getting now and that had a k&n air intake on it. typically about 3 mpg less then what im getting in the 15 and the motor isnt broken in yet. i got 23.4 on the way back from the inlaws house with uner 1000 miles on it and i was breaking in the engine according to what it says in the manual.

i dont expect to see good mileage untill about 3 to 5000 miles. my 09 jumped in mpg at about the 4000 mark and the same goes for the old lady's car when we bought that new. she was mad at first because she was getting around 17 mpg when it was rated for like 26 until i told her to give it a few thousand. sure enough it got better.

im getting better mpg than i thought i would right now, due to it being new and being cold and letting the engine idle to warm up. so far so good. hopfully other 2.7 owners chip in with what they get.
That's the same or less gas mileage as my 5.0 and 5.7 would get under same driving conditions. EB cracks me up. Good luck with your 2.7.

Turbo charged V6 is not the combo for power & mpgs. With forced injection you can't have both. With V8s, Chevy, RAM and even Fords 5.0 proves that mpgs are all about the same or better than EB in every day driving. And Better mpgs when towing because there's no replacement for displacement to move loads efficiently, it's simple physics. The only thing you get from EB that you don't get from the others is a nice, low end kick in the pants acceleration from the turboes....Yay.....
Ford should be concentrating on a more powerful, more efficient V8. The other manufactures get it, not sure why Ford doesn't?" That's what should be in a truck.
But hey, if you like strong V8 power along with V8 mpgs during everyday driving and you can live with V8 tow power with terrible MPGs from a V6? That doesn't make sense to me but well, it's a free country.

Sir, your driving schedule is one that should deliver near maximum mpgs. (55 mph, a few stop signs) my 5.7 would crack off over 20 mpgs driving like that and the 5.0 would match what you're getting.I think this is as about as good as you're gonna get. MPGs don't drastically change. I shutter to think what kind of mpgs you're going to get when or if you tow something over 4k lbs.

I'm sorry man, I just don't get the draw to EB? You could have got a 5.0 which would give you better power, same mpgs, better sound, you wouldn't have to worry about keeping your foot out of it to keep turboes from sucking fuel, you'd be able to tow more efficiently...it just makes more sense. The 2.7 is a real head scratcher to me.

But good luck with it. Let us know how it goes. It will be good to know.

in the gun world world this is a 1911 vs glock fight or 45 vs 9mm. one of which im not getting involved with. i can compare it to my 09 5.4 which had a mod ( k&N air intake) thats all i can do. all im stating is im already getting better mpg with daily driving, and shes not even broken in yet. now towing you might be right with the 2.7 i havnt towed anything yet but i would agree a v8 would probably get better mpg if i were to guess. but i hardly tow anything and when i do its not much. i think daily driving will be a different story. im only on my 2nd tank of gas so lets give it some time. otherwise move that v8 to the side cause the 2.7 is gunna blow the paint right off that suckaaaaaa!!!

I know when I had the 3.5EB in my 2012, if I kept it in boost it drank like a drunken sailor. Mileage was excellent if i was light on the gas pedal cruising at 60mph on a level freeway.

The price premium for the EB wasn't worth it for me.

Thanks for keeping track of your mpg on this configuration! Very similar to what I've got ordered. I think something that gets lost in the v8 vs 2.7eb is that the v8 would probably get taken off the line by the 2.7. Question is what v8 guys are going to think after that happens a few times?

Why do you feel the need to **** in other peoples threads with your propaganda. I, like others, would like to know more about the potential of this motor. Thanks to the OP for sharing.

What's the big concern with mileage on these trucks! Gas is $1.84 a gallon here in Mpls.

That's true. Have to wonder how the Ram Eco diesel sales are going with cheap gas at the moment.
