2.7 auto start stop
The auto start stop technology will be off when towing or in 4wd sez ford. Can the driver turn it off any or would one be stuck with the on off in normal driving. I guess this will be coming to all vehicles in the near future but I would not want it. Does it also mean no airconditioning at all red lights in the summer? wow.

No, the A/C keeps running with some DC circuitry wizardry. For those concerned about starter wear and battery run-down, Ford says they got ya covered there also with proprietary starter engagement anti-wear coatings and some more circuitry functions not dependent on the battery. Regarding the anti-wear tested in 150,000-240,000 start-stop cycles, I calculated (using the lesser figure) that would be equivalent to 50 starts-stops per day for 7.76 years.

My sister in law's BMW has this and it is quite annoying really. She has a button right above the push start button to turn off auto start stop. Not sure if the F150 will have an off button or not.

Retired and loving it!
Just clicking the "tow haul" button sounds like it may turn off this "feature." Unless of course you have to have the TT wiring plugged in too.....

the auto start stop is the one thing that has me worried about the 2.7. I really want/need a truck for my next vehicle, but I also need it to be affordable, so MPG is going to be important to me. Right now I have close to a 60 mile round trip commute everyday, so fuel economy is important to me

Last November I spoke with a Ford employee who asked that I not reveal his name or context of our conversation (I posted this info here at that time if anyone wants to check) and he told me about the 2.7L engine and that their preliminary numbers were 28 mpg on the highway.
This wasn't for the screw 4x4 but instead the regular cab 2x4. He stressed they were still working on the tweaks and secret squirrel stuff but that 28 mpg was certainly in the realm of realistic.

The news from the 2015 just keeps getting better. If the 2.7l approaches 28 mpg highway and uses start stop tech to get 20+ in the city that would be incredible. And as to be expected, ford offers so many choices that if the start stop thing bothers you, you can always choose a different motor.

Yep...I stated in another post that the EcoBoost 2.7L will probably rival the EcoDiesel is all categories...maybe better in some. With tunes, they will both be incredible IMO.
