Skimpy paint on 2015 & 2016s
Was waxing and found less than 100% paint coverage on exposed surfaces of doors and jams. First vehicle I had where final coat does not cover the entire inside of door, or door jams. Others F150s in local showroom are the same.
This is a 11/2015 Dearborn build. On both sides, inside surfaces of doors, or door jams, that face downward do not have final base or clear coat. Green Gem color (and clearcoat) is not applied, but there is a yellowish coat. Exterior surfaces seem to all be painted. On a showroom 2015 white F150 Platinum, I have seen grey color.
Other than that, I do not see orange peel on top or side surfaces of my truck.
Are others forum members vehicles the same? What about KC builds?
You have to look up from the ground to see this. Open any door, then lie on ground looking up. You might need a flashlight to light up the surfaces.
First photo is under door. This is not a result of flash. The second photo is of jam between doors - you can see the leading edge of the left rear door - outside surface is reflections not missing defective paint.
Go ahead and look, either make me feel bad, or you will feel bad.

Hugely common across all manufacturers. Nissan being the worst in my experience. Seen it on a $100k+ Gtr. When I painted for Ford it was most common on green gem and tux black. I've repaired countless 09-14 trucks for this exact problem under warranty. If I stayed with Ford, I'm sure I would be doing it on the 15's and 16's. According to many other threads in the 15 forum, Ford has put a stop to warranty approval for this.

If there are many other threads on this topic, I cannot find them. I have searched. There is only 6 pages of threads in this forum section on paint, and I cannot find one specifically on this, and this is where I would expect them to be. If you could direct me to another thread, that would be great.

Here's the most recent one. One pops up every week or so.

phew! Just checked my '15 Oxford White, paint coverage is solid in all door jams and doors along with a nice clear coat.
I'm one that cleans and wipes down all doors and jams during every hand wash, and seeing that would upset me every time I saw it. Sorry to see that, hopefully the dealer takes care of you if you decide to pursue a fix.
