I'm considering PlastiDipping my truck.
Wanna hear and see from those who've used it, either in part or in whole on their truck.
If you haven't used it, I'm not really interested in hearing your opinion, so don't post, please and thank you.
My truck still has factory paint, but after 15 years it's all pearled and scratched... I don't wanna pay big money for a custom paint job either, really not worth it on an old truck.
So, what ya got?

I wanna black out the grill, and the bumpers and side steps, and do a nice desert tan body, all matte finish. I hear it holds up pretty well to desert pinstriping which is a big reason I don't wanna pay good money for a professional paint job... I'll ruin it in one trip...

Looks OK on badges to me, but that's it. It has a sense of, "unfinished" to me. But I paint for a living, so anything that looks like e-coat, looks not finished to me haha! I helped a co worker do his whole 69 charger in yellow plasti dip. Everyone, even he, himself thinks it looks "meh", haha! Again that's me, it's your truck
Again, if you're going to do that much, definitely buy the gallons, and spray it on with a gun. Eastwood makes a plasti dip gun setup. Seen dudes on here do their whole truck in spray cans!

I did body parts on a car I was working on using the wagner power sprayer. You definitely need to put several coats on so it you can remove it easier down the road. I also did several sets of wheels, and they held up for at least a year each time I did them. Only reason I redid them was to change the color. Probably for what youre trying to accomplish its fine. Up close you can see the orange peel in, it wont lay flat like paint.

seen a lot of good looking jobs done with it. Prepping it properly, and doing SEVERAL even coats is the key to good results. I've done several sets of wheels for people, powerwashing them first then a quick rubdown with rubbing alcohol and a rag to get the rest of the brake dust off. We generally do between 4 and 6 coats on a 20 inch wheel. Most have held up for a year or more, usually peeled off just to change color. I did my grill in my Volvo with 5 coats and it turned out really well. Help up to a summer of Humidity in OK and some road trips across the state and to Austin TX.
I say dip it or get it wrapped. Either one.
