Default Steering wheel vibration issues 2004 F150 4x4.

My truck has a vibrating wheel. New to the suspension part of the truck. I was told by ford dealership my lower ball joints need replaced. WHAT DO I LOOK FOR TO SEE MYSELF THEY ARE BAD? I am bothered by the fact that I have had this truck for a month now and this problem started a few weeks ago. So I had the tires balanced to see if the vibrating would stop. But no it didn't. So next thing I know is I had truck in at a dealership for a new key and have it computer chipped with the brain. And they did a free safety check on it and that is when they told me I need the lower ball joints replaced. Sorry for the long message. Just want my truck to drive like a champ.
