Default X-pipe or H pipe??

Iam getting the true dual system on my 2008 5.4L replaced due to a muffler failure. I am currently running a normal setup(1 pipe per muffler, etc) and was wondering if i should get an upgrade to a x or H pipe system??? any feed back would be greatly appreciated

I don't really think the x-pipe or h-pipe setup is gonna make a big difference if you are already running true duals I would just have the true duals redone but that's just my .02

in the mustang world, H-pipes add more depth and tone to the exhaust, X-pipes make more power but make it sound more raspy.
I do feel that every true dual setup needs some sort of crossover though. it will help with scavenging

Adding either an X or H will improve your scavenging and will be better for the system. There will be a slight difference in sound, but either will do a better job than the isolated system.

Putting in an X pipe puts a natural constriction to the exhaust right at the center of the X. An H pipe was more for the heat riser systems of the 60's in V's, some even had the butterfly spring loaded in the manifold on one side. The H balanced the system. An exhaust Balancer for short. Dragsters don't have X or H pipes they just dump it out long headers. Maximum torque applications. I ran a 409 in the 60's with straight flow duals to single high flow mufflers. Zoom/Zoom is all I need to remember about it. Spend your money on stainless. LOL

Even without making it a "super truck" it is still a good idea. Having the pipes isolated takes slightly more force to expel each pulse. It's very small, but there is some increased wear from this to the motor.

Increased wear means shorter engine life. so a one time cost to make your engine run a little longer is worth it to me.
