Default whlisting 5.4 motor

whlisting 5.4 motor
I have an 05 f150 fx4 5.4 liter got it in jan 07 this thing is a nightmare. I had a motor problem six months ago (position sensor) was junk at least thats what the delear said. About 2 weeks ago I noticed like a ping or tick took it in said my vairble cam timing and sprockets were crap. I said yeah right this motor has low miles under 50,000 and I dont beat my truck floored it once never hauled more than 1,000 pounds and never towed a thing. So they basicly gave me half a new motor minus the head. But now two days after the flipin motors making a whlisting or like a howling noise. Please any body out there have u had any luck with the late model fords TELL ME HOW YOUR DOING IT PLEASE!! I just want to fix and sell Cut my losses now my warrnty just ran out I dont want to go over this again in 20,000 miles please give feed back

Default your whistling

Air intake lines. The hard plastic lines on the left side of the motor. Check to be sure they are not dry rotted and they are connected good.

Does the whistling/howling stop immediately after letting off the throttle? Usually at about 50-53 mph?

yeah my truck does the same thing. i have an O5 lariet. after i had my intake blown out the mechanic told me that he did know if he got everything out the whistling/hum stopped but it started back. it dosent whistle/hum at idle, only when driving. and its not constant. so when you find an answer let me know.

In the winter my 2002 5.4L whistles due to the extremely cold dense air flowing past the small holes in the intake track. It is most noticeable while cruising or when i have the cruise control set. It changes as the temperature changes but i really done hear it when its warmer than say -15 degrees.

Check your throttle body and intake. First, throttle body if it is an aftermarket throttle body, make sure it is installed correctly and fits snug. Any leaks in this system could cause a whistling or hum. Second, the intake if it has the stock intake clean your filter and look for cracks and debris in the intake system and manifold. Then make sure it is on correctly and the snap clamp is sealed all the way around. Finally check all the intake connection (i.e. where it hooks up to the motor, mass air sensor, etc) to make sure they are sealed, lined up correctly, no gaps, cracks, excessive wear, or play.
Best wishes mate,
