What Grade of oil???
Just bought a 04 F150 FX4 with the 5.4.....as it was used I've been getting everything serviced so I know where I stand with it...Took it in and got the oil changed.....I farm and use 0-40 synthetic in everything...from my push mower up to my 450 hp 4 wheel drive tractor.... I put the 0-40 into the 5.4...and now I see that it is recommended to use 5-25....Any oil experts know if I'm fine or should I be changing the 0-40 out.. I change the oil in my cars and trucks every 6000 miles.....Thanks for the help

All that I know for sure and I am not so sure it is the same where you are is that if you do not use the same oil that the company recamends then you may essentially void your warrenty that and it also just depends on the miles of your vehicle and that is about all I know.

I wouldnt use that oil only because ford recommends that you use the 5-25 oil.... you might not see any immediate problems but down the road there might be several problems and all at once.

I would just stick with the 5-20 Ford recommends. There have been a few issuse with what Jon stated above and your truck could start knocking like a diesel. If your trying to save money on oil cost get it at wally world, it's cheap there. They even sell Motorcraft oil.

honestly, it doesnt really matter what oil you use, as long as your not using a 15w40 or 20w50
I've used 0w30, 5w30, 10w30 and 5w40 in my vehicles.
You will NOT void the warranty if you dont use 5w20 ford oil. Hell most lube shops only carry 5w30 and 10w30
The thing that makes the biggest difference is the QUALITY of oil you use.
Dont use cheap 99cent oil.
I personally use Amsoil Synthetic 5w30 or 0w30 in all my vehicles.
and I change oil every 10,000 miles. but I change filters every 5,000

They will not void it because of the weight but the mileage between changes. I Just looked at my 02 Ranger owners man. and they recommend 5000. I think my 05 f150 is the same.

I go 10-15,000 miles between oil changes on all my vehicles. about once a year for me. I use amsoil 0w30 and 5w30 in my vehicles.
I just bought my 04 SCREW bout 2 weeks ago and when its time for an oil change. I'm using Amsoil Engine Flush and then using 5w30 Amsoil. Planning on still changing oil every 15,000 miles though BUT I will change my oil filter every 5,000 miles
Extended oil change intervals are only OK IF YOU CHANGE THE OIL FILTER IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.
I have a friend of mine who has over 400,000 miles on his 99 chevy van, He changes his oil every 25,000 miles BUT he uses AMSOIL 0W30 and he also has an AMSOIL Remote DUAL Oil Filter Bypass sytem. He changes the filters every 12,000 miles. And the van is still on the original engine, doesnt use a drop of oil! and runs like a brand new van!
