Question '84 5.0 carb problems "I think"

I need more ideas... My F-150's been parked nearly a month now, and I've tried just about everything. It misses so bad I cant get it over 25-35 mph. It idles, and revs fine in neutral, and drives drives some if I feather the pedal but anything past what was in the carb pump and it wants to miss or shut down. Nothing I can do has helped. Carb's a motocraft 2100 2BBL.

It started on one of the coldest mornings we've had here in KY, so put a can of heat in each tank and filled them up. After that didn't cure it, I changed the fuel filter, then the air filter for good measure as it was dirty anyway. With no change, I put a new set of Platnim Plus plugs in with new wires, Cap & rotor. No change.

Checked the timing with a Tach and light & made a small (4*) adjustment. Replaced all the vacuum and fuel lines and tested the vacuum advance. Stator Plate is moving fine, and timing marks advance aroud 30* or more when I run the RPMs up. I pulled the carb to ensure I had no leaks under it, and used some sealer on the old gaskets for added insureance. Pulled the engine wireing harness and made some connector repairs and replaced the coil. No CAT, just pipes & mufflers, No change.

I'll get a vacuum guage tomorrow to test the engine with a nifty article I got online tonight. Any additional advice or ideas are welcome.

I bought the carb rebuild kit and decided it would be a lest resort after seeing the contents. Thanks

Is the choke opening up all the way after the engine warms up?

Thanks Sean, I'm thinking the automatic function of my choke is shot. When I bought the truck it had a cable attached to it that worked when I need it. I've not taken the choke apart to look at the spring, but havn't had much luck adjusting it either. Just open when I push the cable in, and closed when pulled out.

I tested manifold vacuum today, and after some adjustments to the carb, is holding around 17 hg of vacuum but still runs like crap. I also visited a local straight track Mustang builder at his shop today who says the problem is in the Carb. So, tomorrow I'll pull it apart and start it "soaking". If the rebuild don't work I'll upgrade to a holly 4bbl and intake. Thanks for your help, though I figured there'd be more motorheads wanting a shot at this one.

I gotta tell you, I've learned lots on this job, and naw have several more cool tool gadgets for my collection!
