i ordered a new manifold and gasket set. took a set of torches and heated up the engine block around the broken stud and the stud itself and poured cold water on it as soon as i took the torch away and took a pair of vise grips and slowly wiggled back and forth and it finally broke loose. had to take the starter off to get at the bottom bolts and took the inner fender well off to get at the top ones and the 2 bolts where the Y pipe fastens to the manifold and took the fan housing out and unbolted the A/C compresser (not the a/c lines) and moved it out and out of the way and the manifold slid right out. it was the only way to get the manifold out. and the new one in. i put Copper Silicone on the gaskets when i put them in as well. Which the copper was rated up to 700 degrees F. And instead of putting those stupid studs in i put in Grade 8 bolts which was a lot easier then those studs because really you cant get the manifold in when they're studs without having to undo the motor mounts and transmission mounts and jack the engine up enough to get at the damn thing.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks
as most every1 said most likely manifold leaking, very common

Had similar situation, tho all my studs were rusted off woulda had to drill and tap them all but i broke my arm the next day so the dealership got screwed with that tho paid $1,000 to get it done, but then not even 3 months later the ****ty carbon gasket blew out and ticking was back, took headers off cleaned em up got a dead soft aluminum gaskets and stage 8 locking header bolts, havnt had a problem since

also try putting a better grade gas in it. my 01 4.6 ticks if i put 87 octane in, so i have to go mid grade or higher and it runs great.
