i will agree 100% on that, a yellow is designed for systems where a red is more of a daily/cold battery

the red has 1000 amps at 32 degrees f with 100 amp reserve, the yellow has 870 and a 120 reserve, honestly the red is for a truck you use, a yellow is for a truck you have at a show with strobes and underglow and that other gay ****....ha

ill provide a link...

by the way, when the US Marines chose a battery, its a optima red that i trust to get my job done.

The yellow topped Optima battery is a deep cycle one. It can be used as a stand alone battery without a charging system like a short track car. It's designed to allow discharging it further than a standard battery and replenish itself ,thru charging, with no ill effects. I bought the red one after getting 6 yrs out of the OEM. It ran like $200. There's adapters to help install it included.

if i am not mistaken i think the red top has 6 rolls of a glass type material in it. It does not have plates like a regular battery. therefor in rough off road situations regular baterires, due to bouncing etc, can have part of the plating on the plates to come off causing a short in the batrery... optima not having plates last longer than regular battery in most situations.
