Synthetic or Regular Oil?

Synthetic Mobil 1 every 5k. The advantages of synthetic is it dosent break down as fast as regular oil. It puts up with more abuse. With regular oil if you overheat the engine I reccomend changing the oil. With synthetic I don't. The 4.6 filter is easier to get out if you turn the wheel slightly to the left just before shutting the truck off to do the oil change. You can reach it underneath from the front.

getting ready for change
I have yet to change the oil in my truck. I just got it a couple of weeks ago, and when I get paid will probably change to M1 Syn. I used to use it in my Ranger and I liked it. Think I will try M1 filter this time too. Used to change filter at about 5,000 miles and top off, then change everything at about 10,000 miles.

Just went to Castrol Syntec 10w-30, and the K&N filter. I don't normally pile on the miles so I change my oil and filter every 6 months regardless of mileage. However if I am going to take a long trip, and if I am 4 month or so into a oil change I will at least change the oil, if not the filter.

Just did a change and used Royal Purple 5w20. Instantly everything just felt smoother. Supposedly good for 12k but will decide as I change the filter every 3k...K&n filter.

Castrol Full Synthetic..has worked great for me. I am thinking about switching to royal purple. You'd be surprised how much of a difference the oil in your engine can make!
edit: wish i could say the same thing for my tranny

I was going to put Royal Purple in my truck but at two dollars more per quart, combined with the fact I have used Castrol oil's since the late 60's I went with Castrol Syntec 10w-30. Of course I went with a K&N filter I think
right now it is the best on the market, Purolator being number two.
