Just brought the truck home 1 month ago... Doing a cleaning cycle with Mobil Super High Mileage semi-synthetic 5W-30 and LC20... Then after 5K miles... I'm switching to M1 High Mileage 5W-30...Since it has shown to have one of M1 best additive packages... For Cleaning & Anti-Wear Additives... As well as special additives to protect against future oil leaks due to old shrinking seals and gaskets. { As long as the local WM keeps stocking it!! }

With every summer oil change I will also add 16oz of Schaeffers Moly Treatment... My past UOA have shown excellent low wear results with this product added...

http://www.schaefferoil.com/engine-oil-treatment.html

This will be my sons college commute for the next 6yrs so I'm incorporating a very **** maintenance routine...

Royal purple 5w-20 with a Mobil one filter. Runs smooth and lasts forever. Last change made it to 8k!

Motorcraft fossil oil, changed by the dealership when the doohickey in the dashboard says it's time, and not a day sooner. Obsessing over motor oil is a pointless waste of money unless you're a race driver or operate under extreme conditions.

2002 Windstar uses 0-20 or 5-20 Valvoline full synthetic with motorcraft filter changed every 10k up to 180k. The darn transmission gave out but didn't burn any oil. This is how I ended up with a f150 which will receive the same treatment.

right now it is the best on the market, Purolator being number two.
K&n oil filters are made by wix so you can save a few bucks just buying wix filters. i run slalom Sig series 5w-20 and wix filter every 5k. i was going to use rp but with extensive research i believe amsoil and redline are the two best makers of syn oil.

I have to agree. they will all work and keep and engine running if changed properly. i think changing oil every 3k is one of the biggest scams in the auto business. keeps all the oil makers/dealers in business. that's one of the reasons no stores sell amsoil back when they first came out cause they recommend very 25k (no way in hell id go this long) but no one wants to sell it cause imagine if everyone went to auto stores very 10-25k instead of 3k? Their not making as much money off us. but now more and more companies are recommending longer intervals. so maybe some stores will start carrying it soon.

In my '06 F150 4X4 truck I run Amsoil 0W20 at the moment. Will probably go to Amsoil 0W30 at the next change. I only change it once a year or 15K miles whichever comes first. In my '07 Edge I run 0W30.

I have ran Amsoil 0W30 as long as 30K miles when it was all highway driving in my car. I drove over 68K miles that year so it saved me a bunch. That SS Monte Carlo had 245K on the clock when it cracked a valve seat. Was still getting the same milage as when new and had never been touched inside the engine. Just plugs, wires, etc. I figured I got my money's worth.
