In fact, I know some who only change oil when their oil analysis tell's them to!

If your switching to a Syn at the first oil change, there is nothing you need to do!!!!

Syn WILL NOT sludge your motor! Period! That issue is likely from neglect and other issues prior to any Syn being introduced into the system. If it was a high mileage motor prior to the introduction, along with neglect and lack of maintenance, then likely issues will result.

Education, education, education.

I DONT THINK CHANGING OIL EARLY HAS HURT ANY ENGINE
but we all know one person who hurt an engine with goin too long
if a man wants to spend 100 bucks every week on oil changes its his own business
i personally like dyno changed every 3k. if i had a new engine id run syn (and change at 3k) to stop the wear from happening but i think its pointless to put high dollar oil in an old motor with 100k or more, its already loose. to each his own i reckon. if you like high dollar oil go with it but i bet my 5.4 lasts just as long as ur engine. 135k and still runs like new!!!

its all communist propaganda guys. extended oil change intervals are just something the people at bobistheoilguys brainwash each other with. And if a man says he changes his oil at 3k they all go off on him because they are afraid of anyone with a different opinion.

we could all reassure each other its ok to lick homeless peoples feet but in REALITY the world will know its nuts

go by the manufacturers specs, i think they have it figured out a little better than a bunch of internet chemist wannabes.

btw education=brainwashed in the bitog site

This is what the inside of my old Honda CRV's engine looked like after 160,000km or 100k miles using mobil 1 5w20 with changes ever 16,000 km or 10k miles.

I had also sent a sample away at that interval and it was still good for continued use. Oil has come a long way last few decades.

I have always simply followed the manufacturers recommendation. Had 03 VW Golf diesel that ran synthetic and changed every 16,000 km (10K miles) and it is still running at almost 300,000 km (187k miles) and a mazda 3 using dino changed every 8000 km (5k miles). I think this will be the first time I will not follow the manufacturers schedule. I will be changing my oil every 8000 km (5k miles). I want my truck to last and would rather keep track of the interval myself than trust a sensor and a computer to tell me. This way I won't forget and my engine will be maintained even if the senor goes on holidays without notice.
