I have a 2002 5.4 4wd and I just started tearing down the tranny due to issues getting into overdrive. So took off the valve body and instantly noticed a rather large hole in the case near the low reverse servo.. hopefully you guys can tell me if my case is toast or not. The transmission valve body had some work done to it by traynor a few years back due to the pro charger and specialized tuning so I am not sure if it was done by them.. it just doesn't look like a machined hole which made me worried.



Hole is in lower right quadrant of servo square.

I just found a few photos on Google that shows it is normal for those who see this post. Not sure what it's for but it is supposed to be there.

some cases have the hole, some dont. Not sure why its there
