the P71 cars get a slightly revised EEC tune, but the motor is run of the mill.

i was clear in my information.....i think the problem is that I am explaining a concept that in all honesty, I am the only one who under stands.

The "police interceptor" engine that he put in his truck is no different from any other 4.6L 2V engine that Ford has used since 1999-2004 in the Stang and 2001 to current in all other Fords that receive the 4.6L 2V.

The noted exceptions are listed, as some models have received the 3V 4.6L.

what did ford use as interceptor engine before 1999. I know one time i got stopped in macon, georgia and that state trooper car was no regular or motor... everytime the cam hit a lick the whole car would jump up an down...not as much as my 396 did but still pretty impressive..i am thinking it was a 351 but this was back in 83.

up until 2001, the interceptor along with all other 4.6L powered fords, got the previous generation 4.6L before the PI design....so, in essence, the same motor my Tbird had until I put a 2002 Explorer motor in.

All Police cars have is different gears, dual exhaust and ECM tune. Thats ALL! Engine is the same in the 4.6L mustang GT.

The intake and oil pan are different, other than that its the same motor. The Mustang started making more hp due to a cam difference and intake difference. Very minor difference. There is nothing special about a police interceptor engine. Sorry that busts your bubble. We have proved it on the dyno.
