Default Engine Identification.

I have a 1984 ford f150 that had a stock motor. It was changed out with a fuel Injected motor and converted to carb by changing manifold etc. But now I am going to buy spark plugs and a thermostate how can I Identify the exact engine year and size. I think Its a 4.9l straight six, but Is there a writing somewhere on It that I can look and see what It Is so I can tell the auto store. I know fuel Injected started In 87 I think so Its atleast a 87 motor though.

yes, 300 I6-cylinder, there is a casting number on the block to id the year but that shouldnt make a difference on buy spark plugs and thermostat. If you can, pull a spark plug and the thermostat out and they can match them at the store.
