I have a 2000 F150 5.4. When I started the truck after work it spun over and started fine but then started idling very low at 200-500 rpms. The truck died 2 or 3 times, but it would run when i gave it gas. The speedo was also surging back and forth all the way. It eventually started running normal, but I've had this happen 2-3 times.

From other posts this appears it could be the Idle Air Controller for the surging. I guess the battery could be going bad also. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

Believe you are on target with both counts. If the tach and speedo both go crazy on cranking with the starter, yes its the battery. Can't explain why. IAC does control all idle speeds, suggest cleaning per instructions provided with the cleaner.
