Default rear differential to drive shaft slop

How much should the drive shaft turn before the
rear axles turn ? Mine has alot 1/4 turn.
Any ideas on how much a non ford shop would
charge for a complete rebuild ?

About 10 degrees or less.....certainly not 90* (1/4 turn).

At a 1/4 turn you would have a lot of gear noise. Check to see if the pinion nut hasn't backed away. Sounds like you have some problems.....
