Default please help me out

Hey Ford lovers,

i have a 91 5.o with aod transmission. Not all the time but sometimes when taking off or going from drive to over the truck bucks and the rpms go up and down up and down. but when you stomp the gas pedal down the rpms are high it all straightens out. like i said it happens one day then not the the next. even when the motors cold or hot it still does it. i had my father in law re-build the transmission less then two years ago. i just replaced the torque converter and flushed out all lines and still having problems. need to fix it quick , iam driving to alabama from central florida next weekend. and suggestions are good suggestions thank you

Sounds like the detent cable might be too tight. Let a little bit of slack in it. Just a little not too much.

Came back from the junk yard and was able to pull one off a 88 AOD. Would like to say thank you for the info. Taking it to a friend on monday who works at a local ford dealership to adjust it out. After i contacted my father in law and pulling the old one off he forgot to tell me i was in need of replacing it.
The old one still looked good but you could not adjust it anymore. Thanks for your help and info. to bad your night local cause you saved me a lot of headache, thats well worth drinking a beer over. thanks

Could be the o2 sensor. Have had that happen many times and thought the transmission was messed up or the engine was misfiring. Good luck.
