Oil on number 3 spark plug

Oil on number 3 spark plug
Truck started missing, pulled the codes, found miss on No. 3. Pulled the plug and the threads were covered in oil. Wiped it off and put it back and it runs fine. But where could this oil be coming from? Valve cover gasket? Bad piston ring?

if the threads were covered with oil , then it sounds like leaky valve covers .
If the oil came from the top ( because the oil was on ONLY the threads and NOT the electrode area ) , then , more than likely I would check your valve cover gaskets first ...

i had the same problem and it ended up to be burnt valve replaced the head with new one and valve seals now its the rings giving blow by thus have to replace the engine just bought one with 115k for 250.00 out of a 99 its a 4.2 mine is a 97 so im hoping i dont have to do much to get this one in and running

gasket set 4.0 on 4.2?
Hi, first, sorry for the english, I can't found the gasket set for the Ford V6 4.2, can I use the 4.0 Ford V6?? I have a F150 V6 4.2 XLT and a live in Belém, Pará, Brasil.
