Post "Oil-Coolant Mixture In Spark-Plug Sleeves"

My truck is a 98, 4.6, 272k. I've had plug-fouling issues recently. I recently changed a plug on driver's side, and noticed oil on plug threads. Just the other day, #7 mis-fired. As I dropped the socket in the sleeve to remove the plug, I heard a "splash". Pulling the socket out I noticed oil and coolant. There is no leakage noticeable on the driveway. I have been told it is probably a head gasket, and it would be a major job. Given the mileage, I'm thinking of just pulling the engine and replacing it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

yeah if you have the financial means to pull the old engine and replace it I would recommend that.
