Default Need Some Hints

Hey yall been awhile well i got a 2000 f150 got the 5.4 in it. Well Recently after i get off work and my truck has been off for about 8 and a half hours i go to crank it up and it cranks up but then cuts off. So i crank it again and give it some gas and then it stays on its done this about 5 times now the check engine light has not come on at all. And i wanted to know if anyone has any ideas i can try before i have to pay an arm and a leg to take it somewhere and let them fix it. I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Try to read the codes. If you woun't be able to do it - it will mean something happened to ECU power supply or ECU itself. If you'll get some codes - post them in here to provide us with some additional info.

If CEL does not come on at all even when you try to rewad the codes - it mostly means then ECU either is not getting any power or does not work itself. If it comes on for a self-check when you turn the ignition on - it is possible to read the codes.

Brogan, the CEL lite does not have to be on to retrieve codes. The PCM has a memory, which is retreavable during the test. Can't go into this farther as its a mystery to me. Take the advise of the other guys and have someone pull the codes.

Sounds like the IAC aka Idle Air Control to me.
Have a parts store scan the codes. Most do it for free.

If you don't have any CEL codes I would say you are having a fuel delivery problem. Fuel pump!
