Default Long tube headers or shorties?

Which will give me a louder deeper sound?

But, in my case shorties are all that are offered at a price I can afford!
They are easier for the DIY person to put on also.

If you bought the truck with the shorties on already, you are not going to loose anything by changing them to long tubes. Just get as much info on them as far as a swap before taking on a challenge like that 04 to 08 sounds like it can be a real pain the the backside to do on the 5.4, even with shorties

Just some information for those wondering...it has been proven and I have seen first hand that shorties do not make any extra power on modular motors because of how efficient the factory manifolds are. Shorties on a modular motor are strictly used for sound purposes only. The only way you will see a power or gas mileage gain is by switching to longtubes. Check companies like pacesetter or flowtech for headers for your application because they make a variety of low budget longtubes for many years and engine combo's of Ford trucks.

LMAO...my bad...sorry about that...I haven't learned yet that crack kills

In that case, yes, the shorties will make a difference, however, it will be minimal. On a 5.0, shorties will probably gain you about 10-20hp max and the same in torque. Whereas longtubes will net you some big gains, more so in torque. with longtubes you could see up to about 30hp and 40-50ftlbs of torque gain.
Try this link here for headers http://www.summitracing.com/search/Department/Exhaust/Section/Headers/Year/1994/Make/FORD/Model/F-150/Engine-Size/5-0L-302/Part-Type/Headers/?Ns=Rank|Asc

Why do long tubes produce more power than shorties?

Crawford- because of whats called the scavenging effect, or how the engine pulls exhaust away... kinda has to do with backpressure.
Speed- 30 is a bit overrated, maybe at the crank youll get that much, but at the wheels will be more like 10- 15.... depending on supporting mods as well.. not trying to belittle you, it s just exhaust manufacturers like to advertise stuff like that for profit.. i find it a bit misleading..
