I think the only difference between the Windsor and Romeo engines is the place of manufacture: USA or Canada. If some other member has more pertinent information on the subject, let's hear from him.

If you have the engine in a place where you can get at it easily, check the operation of the valve train by slowly cranking the engine over by hand and measuring the action of the intake valve on #1 cylinder with a runout guage. The intake valve should begin to open about 10-20 degrees before top-dead-center. The exact spec can probably be found in a good service manual.

Remove the engine front cover. For additional information, refer to Engine Front Cover — 4.6L in this section.
Remove the crankshaft sensor ring from the crankshaft.
Rotate the crankshaft until the timing mark on the RH camshaft sprocket is approximately at the 11 o'clock position, and the timing mark on the LH camshaft sprocket is approximately at the 12 o'clock position.
Install the special tools on the camshaft.
Remove the timing chain tensioning system from both timing chains.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the timing chain tensioners.
Remove the timing chain tensioner arms.
Remove the timing chains and the crankshaft sprockets.
Remove the timing chain guides.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the LH timing chain guide.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the RH timing chain guide.
Installation
CAUTION: The timing chain procedures must be followed exactly or damage to valves and pistons will result.
CAUTION: Do not compress the ratchet assembly. This will damage the ratchet assembly.
Compress the tensioner plunger, using an edge of a vise.
Using a small screwdriver or pick, push back and hold the ratchet mechanism.
While holding the ratchet mechanism, push the ratchet arm back into the tensioner housing.
Install a paper clip into the hole in the tensioner housing to hold the ratchet assembly and plunger in during installation.
Remove the tensioner from the vise.
If the copper links are not visible, mark one link on one end and one link on the other end, and use as timing marks.
Install the timing chain guides.
Position LH timing chain guide.
Install and tighten the bolts.
Position the RH timing chain guide.
Install and tighten the RH bolts.
NOTE: Crankshaft sprockets are identical. They may only be installed one way. Refer to the following illustration for correct crankshaft sprocket installation.
If removed, install the LH and RH crankshaft sprockets.
CAUTION: Unless otherwise instructed, do not rotate either the crankshaft or the camshafts when timing chains are removed and the cylinder heads are installed. Severe piston and valve damage will occur.
NOTE: The number one cylinder is at top dead center (TDC) when the stud on the engine block fits into the slot in the handle of the special tool.
Using the special tool, position the crankshaft so the number one cylinder is TDC.
Remove the special tool.
Install the timing chains.
Install the LH (inner) timing chain on the crankshaft sprocket, aligning the copper (marked) link with the dot on the crankshaft sprocket.
Install the LH (inner) timing chain on the camshaft sprocket, aligning the copper (marked) link with the dot on the camshaft sprocket.
Install the RH (outer) timing chain on the crankshaft sprocket, aligning the copper (marked) link with the dot on the crankshaft sprocket.
Install the RH (outer) timing chain on the camshaft sprocket, aligning the copper (marked) link with the dot on the camshaft sprocket.
Position the LH and RH timing chain tensioner arm on the dowel pins.
Position the RH timing chain tensioner and install the timing chain tensioner bolts.
Position the LH timing chain tensioner and install the bolts.
Remove both the RH and LH retaining pins from the timing chain tensioner.
Make sure that the copper (marked) chain links are lined up with the dots on the crankshaft sprockets and the camshaft sprocket.
Remove the special tools from the camshaft.
Install the crankshaft sensor ring on the crankshaft sprocket.
Install the engine front cover. For additional information, refer to Engine Front Cover — 4.6L in this section.

the cam sensor is on the driver side front timing cover right below the cam cover and the crank sensor goes in the block on passenger lower side almost behind the a/c compressor hope this helps

That helps alot, everything i had been seeing was trying to say they went INSIDE. mine are all hooked up, when i start the truck it runs like a champ, until it warms up some, then appearantly one cylinder is loading up on me, so i guess i need to retime the darn thing

Default questions on timing

SO I have the 5.4 2V windsor had to replace the timing chain due to the tick of it being loose. Sure enough when I got to the timing chains one of the guides was broken and the others were severely worn. Changed them out and do no think I did but just making for sure I did not use the cam holders but I did make sure the the marks were all lined up. When back together fires right up immediately almost better that before. Has a loppy mis to it though now and if I let it run at Idle it has it will eventually sell a light gassy smell at the tail pipe. When I rev it up it sounds better and miss seems to go away but not sure if its that or just cant tell it. When you put it in gear and try to drive it gets crazy bad on the idle and struggles to run. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. By not pay close enough attention could one of the cams be 360 degrees out of wack even though all of the marks are lined up. are the marks dummy proof as long as #1 cylinder is at top ted center and the cams are matched with crank with the marks provided with chain and sprockets. Any thing helps at this point
