Default funky shifting?

So I seem do be having a funny shifting pattern when my truck is cold..I will start it up..and get to the main road..pull out and it shifts fine from first to second..well kinda feels like 1.....2....3..drop back down..right back up ...stays there then shifts to 4th gear then OD..no lights..no codes..but definitely doesnt feel normal..doesn't seem to act up when the trucks warmed up. My truck is a 2005 5.4 with 87k

Are you running the correct fluid type?

I would try a simple pan drop, do fluid and filter. If that works, drain the torque converter a few hundred miles later. Use only Mercon V. No generic ****.

It may need the valve pulled. A trany shop may save u much in the short term. Electric shifts can be a solenoid problem. No code means it hasn't fried one yet.
