So, please correct me if I'm wrong here, but if a cat-back is installed, no matter the flow/size of the muffler and pipe, the flow is ultimately controlled by what's installed from the head/manifold to the cat (be it 3", 3.5", or...).

Does it really do any good at all (except increase the sound) to install any cat-back exhaust set up?

I'm saving my $$$ for when someone comes out with a specifically tuned set up that includes all the major components: INTAKE, CHIP & EXHAUST (entire system), and produces verified dyno specs to back up any claims.

-a little wary of messing with my '13 EB (can you tell? )

Whachyall think?

First of all... awesome thread!! Wish I had found this a few days earlier.. I have an appointment tomorrow morning at my local shop for and exhaust install. Now I'm starting to second guess my original plans.

I have a 2010 5.4 with Edge tuner. I'm not really looking for much of a hp gain, mainly just the sound... that being said, I dont really want to loose any of my low end torque. My original plan was to replace the factory muffler and install a SI/DO 2.5" outlet magnaflow, and do a "Roush Offroad style" side exit before the rear tires.

Do you guys think this would cause my power band to move up in rpms or cause me to have issues with low end torque loss? I could always do a Borla round muffler with stock tail pipe and tip.. just doesnt look as cool, and not sure if it would have the sound i'm looking for. Not really looking for LOUD.. but stock is just to quiet.

What do you guys think? Thanks again for the thread.. awesome read!! And Thanks for your input.

It would barely cause any back pressure loss since its a SI/DO muffler and not a true dual system. You won't notice a difference at all.

x2. Difference in sound, yes. Low end torque, nada.

When you say "Low end torque, nada" You mean no change? or it will be non-existant? lol

hey what about inline engines? i'm running a 4.9l 300 and was thinking of going longtube headers to true duals 2.5 inch each through 2 seperate flowmaster super 40 series mufflers 2.5in/out then dumping exhaust out the side before the rear passenger side wheel.. am i losing too much velocity? should I be addding in a crossover pipe? Thanks!
