Default which engine / truck to pick?

Im looking at trading in my truck and getting something else.
What I'm currently debating between is a 2011 f250 with either a 6.2L or 6.7L.
I can get similarly equipped and millage f250s 6.2L for the $26000 range, or a 6.7L for around the $32000
My question is, is the 6.7L worth the extra 6000$?
For comparison I currently drive a 2014 f150 3.5 ecoboost.
I drive around 20k a year for work and tow a trailer for about 18k of it. Its a 6x12 enclosed, probably weighing 3000 to 4000 lbs usually.
The truck tows fine, but I def notice when the trailer is attached vs detached, in the mileage and feel.

Is it worth it for me to jump to an f250? And if so to the 6.7L

thanks

Would all depend on what you want to improve. 3k-4K trailer you will not have any improvement in plain towing over the 3.5 ecoboost. The heavier weight of the truck might make for a more stabilized towing experience. But you will get terrible fuel mileage with either engine in the f250 including the diesel while towing or not. And the f250 will not have the nice ride the f150 does especially with the 20k miles you put on a year. My opinion only. If you want more power wait till 2017 second gen 3.5 ecoboost. More hp more tq and cgi block. Going to be a huge step forward. Ordering will start August around the 15th.

^^^ Thats about right. The 6.7 actually gets decent mileage considering the power it develops and the mass it has to push down the road, but you're obviously going to be paying a big price up front. For a 4000 lb trailer I'd keep my money and wait until I actually needed a new truck. We have both trucks on the ranch and they're both '11s so I have hands on experience with them. The 6.2 gets poor fuel economy. The power is decent but the mileage stinks. Ours has a service bed and typically carries about 12-1500 lb of tools/welder so I suppose this is not a totally fair comparison, but it only gets about 12 mpg running down the highway. The 6.7 gets about 16-17 highway mileage and the power is unbelievable. On paper it produces almost twice the torque, but from the seat it feels like 3X because it takes so little throttle input to make it launch and accelerate. Personally I would not even consider a 6.2, especially if coming from your current truck. You won't like it. We bought ours because we needed to quickly put together a 4WD service truck for $50K (service box included) and don't need it to tow very much or very far. The 6.7 does the heavy towing and hauling. My condensed answer to your question is no, its not worth it for what you're doing. Not even close.

For the weight of a F250 i would never consider a gas engine in one. The resale value of the diesels hold up a lot better also.
