engine trouble with my 1989 f150

Question engine trouble with my 1989 f150

i have a 82 f150 with a 302 with 2bbl carb two drive that got totaled out and i bought a 1989 f150 xlt with 4X4 and 302 efi and 4 speed but the motor is toast and i want to put in the motor out of my 82 in my new truck but it is all computerized and i dont know if all the sensors will fit in my 82 302

Do you have vehical inspection in Indiana? the reason why I am asking is because it is technically illegal to put the older engine in a newer truck. If you don't have such inspections it is one of those who is going to find out unless you tell them sort of things. As for the rest of it I have no idea.

yeah we do have inspection but the new motor has all the sensors and the other one dont and i dont feel like getting rid of the computer and sensors

the older motor will fit but the fuel injection and other things will be all thrown out of wack. The computer on the newer motor read the cam profile and all, the 82 is a non highoutput motor unlike the new roller motor. I would highly suggest you do not do this and either find another motor from a newer year or rebuild the current one.

Aye, second this. You're looking at a world of headaches with the above. Lot easier and cost effective to just find the right engine or rebuild.

i am having problems with my 89 ford f 150 EFI 302 i changed the cap and rotor had no problem the next day i changed 4 of the plugs and it jerkys when in gear but idle fine in neutral i bought new wires and i put them on from one counter clockwise it that right? it is still jerky and rough so i put the old plugs in and its still jerky any answer

Obvisually you are aware of the differences by the external appearance. I was more interested in the definition of toast, and exactly is wrong with the newer "toasted" engine?
