engine light on please HELP
i have 1998 xlt with a 4.6 and the engin light is on and when driving it will blink and the engine shudders lightly. i just got the truck and noticed it when driving it home. yes the light was on when i bought it.what are the usual suspects. thanks

ive got a 98 with a 5.4l and the light comes on sometimes,if you go to autozone they will check it with obdII scanner for free!mine ended up being a fouled coilpack.hope that helps

check the o2 censors. if so can get expensive... had em go out on a land rover one time... 6 of em $200 a pop. but i would recommend you take it somewhere and have it checked out

a flashing check engine light usually means a dead misfire in the engine. happened to me on my 01 4.6 every time i went up a mountain. ended up being were i had a bad mechanic work on my truck when i shot a spark plug out of the head. he drilled the hole to big and it was sucking air; melted my sparkplug, sucked my valve, and had to have my head redone $$$$$$! get it on a computer asap (with minimal driving)
