EGR Excessive Flow Error P0402
Hello all!
Got a check engine light on and it comes back at the EGR Excessive Flow. Now I went to a local shop and they are telling me to replace the DPFE sensor (which I expected) but also to change out the solenoid. He said without changing the solenoid the light would probably come back on. Like to just buy the DPFE sensor if I can

I had the same thing happen on my truck. Check for broken vaccum lines going to the EGR solenoid. If the vaccum lines are in good condition, then you need to replace the solenoid. It never hurts to take the EGR valve off for a good cleaning to get all the carbon deposits out of it. If you don't want to take a chance on wasting money on a EGR solenoid and it not fixing your problem, then start with the basic things first like I said up here ^ take your EGR valve off and clean all the carbon out of it.
