what engine is in the 2000 and up ford mustangs?

how do they compare to the stock F150 4.6 engine?

the 99-04 Mustang GT 4.6L is identical to F150 4.6L, that being the PI engined ones. The only difference is the intake manifold and the oil pan and minor accessory stuff.

how does the older 5.0 compare to the 4.6 engine?

05-09 is completely different. It uses a different manifold and 3V heads. There are many compatibility issues.

as for performance....my car weighs in at 3650lb without me in it. Ive got the motor listed, 3.73s, and a 2400 stall convertor, 2.5in compression bent exhaust with no cats. Among a few other small things with a really good ECONOMY tune. My friends 91 GT 5spd with some minor **** runs just a bit slower than me....take away what you want about performance. But, there are N/A performance limits to the 281 CID, after going big bore and 4V heads, it will make power to 7000 rpm.
