coolant in oil?
How is everyone? This is my first time posting. I'm working on a '97 F150 4.6, 227,000 miles. My Dad bought it a couple of days ago so I haven't had a chance too look it over much, so today I decided to check a few things. I noticed first off that the oil was low, just barely showing on the dipstick, so I go to add some more, take off the oil cap and there it is, the infamous baby poo.
Hopefully i'm only looking at intake gaskets, but I'm normally a GM guy, so I need some guidance on these engines. What should I be looking for?
Thanks!
*edit* I looked again and the coolant isn't low, it's not on the dipstick and it hasn't been over heating. Is it possible that it is only condensation?

My 03 5.4 does get lots of condensation buildup in the winter when it is in and out of the garage constantly. It only ever shows up on the oil cap, its quite likely what you are dealing with.

Yeah I have that problem on my truck too. Just a little build up on the oil cap. It especially happens to me when I take short trips in town and don't really let the truck warm all the way up. Just keep an eye out on it, but it is somewhat normal.

Hi there I am new to the site as well. I have a 93 F 150 302 v8 153,000 miles. I don't have a prob with sludge or deposits on the oil fill cap, but every once in awhile I will notice a very small whitish yellow deposit on the side of the dip stick. I have been watching it for a month or so. Anti freeze level is always where it is supposed to be. Do you guys think that this is just because it is cold outside and my round trip to work is only like 6 miles, or could it be something more serious. Thanks
